Yahoo! experiments with paid search engine marketing services

Yahoo! is experimenting with new ads as part of its pay per click services, according to TechCrunch.

The blog's Erick Schonfield reported that the search engine has started to add elements such as logos and images to some of its paid search ads.

For example, a search for eBay may bring up a sponsored search ad that comes with the logo for the auction website.

The tests break with the convention of only using text in pay per click adverts.

Pictures, brand logos, videos, search boxes and deep links are among the additions being tested by Yahoo!, a spokesperson for the company confirmed to TechCrunch.

"As long as they are not too blaring, I think they'll work," Mr Schonfield said in his post.

"Any image will pop in that sea of text on the search results page. And both Yahoo and Google are already incorporating images and videos in their natural search results."

Meanwhile, Google is currently testing text ads on its search results pages for image queries.
